Louisiana has large amounts of biomass resources that can be used for energy. Not only does Louisiana have biomass left over from agriculture processing, but the state is also growing crops specifically to be used for biomass energy. Methane is being captured from the decomposing of closed landfills and used as part of natural gas. Biodiesel is also considered a form of biomass energy being utilized in the state.
